The most significant thing that has happened to me because of this training is that I have been able to upscale my business both offline and online. With social media, my business now has local and international recognition. So many people have patronised my business helping it grow and expand. Through the training, I have learnt how to communicate better with my customers, implement new business tools, employ more staff and gain extra profit upscaling to greater heights.
From the moment I received the news of being selected for this opportunity, I was filled with immense gratitude and enthusiasm. The scholarship not only provided financial support but also opened doors to unparalleled experiences within MTN Nigeria’s Network Division. In my short time at MTN Nigeria, I had the privilege of working alongside industry professionals and experts who shared their knowledge and skills. I was exposed to cutting-edge technologies and innovative practices that drive the telecommunications industry. From network planning, implementation and optimisation to infrastructure management, I had the opportunity to delve deep into various business operation aspects. I appreciate the scholarship and internship opportunity as it’s been a transformative experience that has not only enriched my education but also paved the way for a promising career in the industry.
The opportunity provided by MTNF goes beyond monetary aid, it creates an enriching environment that nurtures personal development and promotes productivity. The strong sense of belonging within the MTNF community is immense, as I forged connections with individuals who possessed a similar drive for career development and positively impacting the society. This internship opportunity has opened my mind to several operations in the IT department and the importance of this to my career cannot be overemphasised.
Honestly, it’s been a unique experience being a recipient of the MTN scholarship and internship opportunity. It’s an honour to be an MTN scholar with access to the yearly financial award, online courses, a discussion platform and then to intern at a prestigious company such as MTN. The support from the MTN Foundation and my colleagues at MTN Nigeria has been huge. We’re one big happy family. I have learned a lot and have also been exposed to the industry and world of service. It has helped me better understand the corporate world and how the IT division works. I expect more hands-on experience and opportunities to learn. I have indeed learnt a lot from the Y’ellopreneur programme and my business has experienced positive changes in different ways; with my daily sales record, I was able to set aside funds for emergencies and the relationship with my customers has grown stronger as they are key to my business success. With this programme, I am able to effectively and efficiently manage the operations of my business.
For me among other endearing experiences, this one stands out – the privilege of being exposed to a new environment of art and artists from all works of life and the different blends of individuality.
