Emeritus Professor Ifeoma Joy Okoye is a distinguished expert in Radiation Medicine with over 44 years of
experience in healthcare and academia, [at University of Nigeria Nsukka, College of Medicine & University of
Nigeria Teaching Hospital -UNTH]. Her expertise spans Women’s Health, Interventional Radiology, and the
diagnosis and management of cancers affecting the breast, cervix, prostate, liver, and lung.
Prof. Okoye serves as the Impact Evaluator for the iCCaRE Consortium in Africa [listed as one of the US –
‘Moonshot Research & Development Programs], the pioneer and current Director of the University of Nigeria
Nsukka, Center of Excellence for Clinical Trials (UNNCECT), Adjunct Professor, Research & Innovation, National
Institute for Cancer Research and Treatment (NICRAT), Member of the MTN Foundation Board [MTNF], &
Advisory Board Member, ONCOINV/OncoSeek [An Early Cancer Detection Company].
Her career highlights include initiating Nigeria’s International Cancer Week [ICW], which has become Africa’s
largest stakeholder gathering for cancer control, National Health Research Ethics Committee [NHREC], National
Institute for Cancer Research & Treatment [NICRAT], ‘Go Pink Day’, & Master Program for Medical Physicists.
She has served 5 un-consecutive tenures as HOD Radiation Medicine [UNN/UNTH], Associate Dean Faculty of
Medicine, UNN, Advancement Officer College of Medicine UNN, NAFDAC Chairperson, Nigerian Clinical Trial
Technical Working Group, Past Visiting Professor to Hochschule Hannover – University of Applied Sciences &
Arts [HsH], Past African Observer to CITI [Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative & Past Observer to the
Board of Union for International Cancer Control (UICC)
She has led several groundbreaking initiatives in cancer awareness, community engagement, clinical trial
framework/Facility development, and biomedical research in Nigeria, with a focus on non-communicable
diseases like, Cancer diabetes, sickle cell disease, and chronic kidney disease. Additionally, Prof. Okoye is
currently working with Stanford University in the US, to advance the integration of precision medicine, artificial
intelligence in healthcare, and imaging genomics.
Prof. Okoye has undergone advanced capacity-building programs at leading global institutions, including the
Brompton & Royal Marsden Hospital, Edinburgh Royal Infirmary [both in the UK], and Innsbruck Medical
University Hospital Austria. She is also a fellow of the prestigious Ashoka Globalizer program and the first
African recipient of the Hero of Cancer Award from the Inspire to Live Foundation in the Netherlands.
A prolific scholar and international speaker, Prof. Okoye has published over 128 peer-reviewed articles,
authored ten books, and mentored numerous healthcare professionals. She also serves as Editor of the West
African Journal of Radiology [WAJR]

(LBD), which mentors & empowers a Global Community of Professionals in Christian – Entrepreneurship, Faith
and leadership.
