What is Data Referral?
A. Data Referral is a service that allows customers to send invites to MTN customers who have not performed internet activities on their lines within 30-365 days to buy a data bundle. The customer who refers another customer will enjoy 10% bonus on the first data bundle activated by the referred customer while the referred customer will enjoy additional 50% bonus on the data bundle that was purchased.
Who can participate in the Data Referral?
A. All MTN customers can refer any subscribers who have not performed an internet activity on their lines within 30 to 365 days.
How can I refer my friends for Data Referral?
A. You can refer your friends via the following channels:
- USSD: by dialling *312*1*Referred Phone number# on your phone
- SMS: by sending REF(space)Referred Phone number(space)Data to 312.
How many phone numbers can I refer for Data Referral?
A. You can only refer ten (10) phone numbers in a day for Data Referral.
Will I get Data Referral bonus on any bundle plans I buy?
A. You will enjoy the bonus only on MTN Access data bundles. (See table below for details). The bonus will not be applicable if the referred customer buys a Winback or XtraValue bundle.
Will I get the bonus on every data bundle purchased by the customers I referred?
A. You will only get 10% bonus of the first data bundle purchased by each customer you referred, while they will get additional 50% bonus data on the data bundle that was activated.
Will I be charged for sending a referral?
A. No! There is no service charge for sending referrals for my Data Referral.
What is the validity of Data Referral bonus?
A. The 10% and 50% Data Referral bonuses will have same validity with the main data bundle activated by the referred customers.
If I have multiple data bundles active and Data Referral bonus, which bundle will deplete first?
A. If you have Data Referral bonus with other data bundles active on your line, the data bundle with the least validity will be used first.
Will I be able to enjoy myMTN bonus with Device bonus and 4G Upgrade offers on the data bundle I purchased?
A. Yes, you will be able to enjoy Device bonus and any other bonus with Data Referral bonus on the data plan you purchased if you are eligible for the offers, but the depletion would be based on the validity of the bonuses.
Will I be able to rollover unused Data Referral data bonus?
A. No, you will not be able to roll over your unused bonus data but you would be able to rollover your unused main data as long as you buy another bundle before the current bundle expires or within the allowed grace period.
How do I check the Data Referral bonus balance?
A. You will be able to check your bonus data balance via the following channels:
- SMS: send 2 to 312
- USSD: dial *312*4#
- myMTN App
- myMTN web
- MTN Bot (Zigi)
