What is MCA Service?
A. Missed Call Alert (MCA) is a value-added service that automatically sends you an SMS notification whenever you miss incoming calls because your phone was switched off, unreachable, or out of network coverage.
Who can use MCA?
A. All MTN customers (Prepaid and Postpaid) can use the MCA service.
How do I subscribe to MCA?
A. All MTN customers are automatically provisioned on MCA by default. No manual subscription is required.
Can I opt out of MCA?
A. You can opt out by dialling *612# and selecting Option 5 – MCA.
Will I be charged for MCA?
A. MCA is free of charge.
How will I receive MCA notifications?
A. You will receive SMS notifications showing the number of missed calls from the caller’s number, and the time/date of the attempt once your phone reconnects to the network
Can I receive multiple MCA messages in a day?
A. The system sends summaries if repeated calls come from the same number.
Will I receive MCA from other networks?
A. No, MCA works only for calls from MTN numbers.
Can I send or receive MCA while roaming?
A. MCA does not work when the called party is roaming.
Can I send or receive MCA to/from international numbers?
A. No, MCA works only on MTN Nigeria network; international numbers are not supported.
Can I send MCA to a number on DND (Do Not Disturb)?
A. MCA cannot be sent to numbers on the DND list.
Will I receive MCA if the caller hides their number (Private Number)?
A. No. MCA does not show missed calls from private or hidden numbers.
Will Do I need data or airtime to receive MCA messages?
A. MCA works through SMS and does not require data or airtime.
How do I know if I have successfully opted out?
A. You will receive a confirmation message after deactivating MCA via *612#.
Can I reactivate MCA after opting out?
A. You can re-activate it by dialling *612# → Option 5 (MCA) and selecting Activate.
Will MCA work if my line is blocked, barred, or suspended?
A. MCA will not function if the line is barred or inactive.
