Conflict of Interest Policy is a perceived, potential or actual situation in which a direct or indirect conflict between the professional duties and private interests of an employee or a stakeholder, which may unduly influence the objective exercise of an employee’s or stakeholder’s duties, obligations or impairs the reputation of MTN Nigeria.
MTN Nigeria’s reputation is based on integrity and trust, its business relationships and the delivery of products and services to its customers. In safeguarding these values, MTN Nigeria endeavours to uphold the highest ethical standards and ensure compliance with relevant legislation in carrying out its business activities and fulfilling its obligations to Stakeholders.
What is the Conflict of Interest Policy about?
It is the policy of MTN Nigeria for all employees and stakeholders to comply with the letter and the spirit of the Conflict of Interest Policy and all applicable legislations.
The purpose of the Policy is to:
- ensure that the propriety actions of all employees are transparent;
- ensure compliance with the key principles and Standards set out in the policy;
- provide employees, directors and third parties with guidance and awareness on identifying, declaring and managing a Conflict of Interest;
- protecting MTN and employees, directors and third parties from any Conflict of Interests;
- to ensure compliance to regulatory and leading practice requirements.
Who will the Conflict of Interest Policy affect?
This Policy addresses MTN Nigeria’s position on compliance with the ethical standards in respect of any Conflicts of Interest. It applies to all Employees and directors and third parties that do business with MTN Nigeria.
MTN Conflict of Interest Policy Structure
This Policy must be read in conjunction with the MTN Nigeria Conduct Passport, MTN Nigeria Risk Escalation Policy and MTN Nigeria Master Policy, which sets out the principles and related activities to provide guidance on minimum standards with which compliance is mandatory.
