Dr Iheanyi Anyahara
Director, Directorate of Accounting Standards (Public Sector)
Dr Anyahara has more than twenty-two years of industry and regulatory experience with financial management & reporting, accounting standard setting and financial reporting regulation at the Financial Reporting Council (erstwhile Nigerian Accounting Standards Board). He is currently the Director/Head, Directorate of Public Sector Accounting Standards, and formerly the Acting Executive Secretary/CEO of Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria (from March 1, 2020 to May 18, 2021).
Dr. Anyahara has held several leadership roles including as a member of the Inter-Ministerial Committee on National Chart of Accounts for Nigeria and the IPSAS GAP analysis Committee. He previously served as the Secretary to the National Stakeholders’ Committee on the Roadmap to the Adoption of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) in Nigeria, approved by the Federal Executive Council under President Goodluck Jonathan.
Dr. Anyahara is member of several professional bodies including as a Fellow at the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and Association of Forensic Accounting Researchers, member Nigerian Institute of Management and Certified National Accountant.
He regularly speaks internationally about financial reporting regulation and the adoption of IFRS, IPSAS, anti-money laundering, corporate governance, sustainability reporting amongst other financial reporting related topics.
Iheanyi Anyahara held the Technical Advisory role to Christopher Nyong – International Public Sector Accounting Standards Board member – January to December 2022. He is currently the Chair of the Adoption Readiness Working Group (ARWG) for Sustainability Reporting in Nigeria.
Iheanyi Anyahara holds a first-class honours degree and M.Sc. from University of Nigeria, Nsukka and MBA from the University of Port Harcourt. He holds a PhD in Accounting from Babcock University, Ilishan Remo, Ogun State.
