MTN Foundation ICT and Business Skills Training Phase 5

MTN Foundation ICT and Business Skills Training is an initiative under its Youth Development Portfolio, which is targeted at young people between the ages of 18 – 35 years who manage micro and small businesses.

Since 2018, MTN Foundation has been collaborating with its ecosystem partners (Google, Oracle, KPMG, IBM, Digital Bridge Institute, and CISCO) to train these youths in states with high unemployment rates, according to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS). To date 3,052 young people have been trained across ten states (Oyo, Kano, Imo, Nasarawa, Rivers, Abia, Akwa-Ibom, Borno, Kaduna and Katsina).

The 4th phase, held in 2020, was implemented online for the first time due to the pandemic. Being virtual, the participants were exposed to more content from our ecosystem partners, and a self-paced and instructor-led learning model was adopted.

This 5th phase will also be online and is scheduled for 3,000 young entrepreneurs who reside and operate their businesses in 6 States: Cross River, Anambra, Lagos, Jigawa, Adamawa, and Kogi. MTN Foundation is implementing this 5th phase, which will begin on April 25, 2022, in partnership with Google, Microsoft, and Meta (formerly known as Facebook). Starting the training in the first two weeks is Google, in the 3rd week will be with Microsoft, the 4th week with Meta, and in the final week, 3 Masterclasses will round up the training.
