The MTN Science & Technology Laboratory Project (MTN STLP) is aimed at partnering with stakeholders and the educational sector to revive science laboratories in secondary schools for enhanced learning. The initiative is designed to renovate public secondary school laboratories, provide laboratory equipment, and train teachers and laboratory attendants towards improving the practical teaching and learning of science subjects, particularly physics, chemistry, and biology.

Under the first phase, MTN Nigeria Foundation delivered 66 science laboratories (Preparatory/Main Laboratory) in 22 public secondary schools across the country. In its second phase, 16 science laboratories (Preparatory/Main Laboratory) were remodeled in 4 public secondary schools. The names of the schools are: St. Augustine’s College, Ibusa, Delta State; Aquinas College, Akure, Ondo State; Queen’s College, Yaba, Lagos; and Government Secondary School, Owerri, Imo State. The remodeling in these schools involves the following workstreams; Civil renovation works of the science laboratories. Installation of laboratory furniture, supply of laboratory equipment and consumables, and training of laboratory staff, Installation of solar-powered boreholes; and Installation of alternative power solution. So far, 82 science laboratories have been upgraded in 26 public secondary schools across Nigeria.
