The What Can We Do Together (WCWDT) is a community-based giveback initiative designed to encourage Nigerians to nominate their communities as recipients of various projects from the Foundation. Nominations are open nationwide and submitted via SMS and online platforms.
Since its launch in September 2015, the WCWDT initiative has delivered significant nationwide impact, with projects successfully implemented in 623 communities across 509 Local Government Areas within the 36 States and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The initiative spans key development areas aligned with MTNF’s focus on education, health, and economic empowerment, reinforcing grassroots development and community ownership.
Projects executed under this initiative include the revitalization of Primary Healthcare Centres, Installation of boreholes, transformers, and ICT laboratories in public Secondary Schools, Provision of household and food items to orphanages, Provision of learning materials and facilities in schools across the 36 States and the FCT. The WCWDT initiative is deeply rooted in equity and inclusive development. Through community-led nominations, projects ensure that they reflect local priorities. Also reaching the underserved communities, ensuring no community is left unreached with technology, quality health care, education and water.
Overall, the WCWDT initiative underscores MTN Foundation’s commitment to inclusive development, participatory decision‑making, and sustainable community impact, positioning communities not just as recipients but as active drivers of their own development.
So far, through this initiative, the MTN Foundation has reached over 3.38 million Nigerians.
