How To Migrate To Xtraspecial Prepaid Plan

You can migrate to the MTN XtraSpecial plan via any of the channels below:

    • Login to myMTN NG App, select ‘Other Plans’ and select ‘XtraSpecial’

A. MTN XtraSpecial Prepaid is a special plan that allows customers enjoy a flat rate of 13.33k/sec to ALL networks in Nigeria and to nine (9) select international countries after the first 90 seconds call of the day at 20k/sec.

A. ALL MTNN Prepaid customers can migrate to MTN XtraSpecial tariff plan.


Q. How do I migrate to XtraSpecial Plan?

A. You can migrate to MTN XtraSpecial plan via any of the channels below:

    • Text ‘408’ to 131
    • Dial *408*1# or dial *123*2*4#
    • myMTN NG App: Login to myMTN NG App, select ‘Other Plans’ and select ‘XtraSpecial’
    • myMTN Web:
      1. Logon to https://mymtn.com.ng
      2. Enter your phone number.

A. You will enjoy the following:

        • 15GB monthly data bundle at ₦3,500
        • 5GB monthly data bundle at ₦1,500

Q. How much will I be charged for migrating to XtraSpecial?

A. You will NOT be charged for migrating into XtraSpecial tariff plan if it is your first time in 30 days. Subsequent migrations within the same month will attract ₦102 migration fee.

NB: If you are on another tariff plan and you successfully buy any of the XtraSpecial Data plans, ONLY the cost of the bundle will be deducted from your account. i.e. You will NOT be charged for migrating into XtraSpecial tariff plan when you buy ANY of the XtraSpecial bundles.


Q. Will I enjoy a flat rate of 13.33k/sec for all National Calls and International destinations after the first 90 seconds call of the day at 20k/sec.?

A. This rate is applicable to all National calls and to 9 Eligible International destinations daily, while standard rates apply to all other International destinations not listed.


Q. What are the eligible 9 destination countries that I can call ?

A. The eligible 9 countries are listed below:

    • Australia
    • Canada
    • China
    • Norway
    • India
    • Malaysia
    • Romania
    • South Korea
    • United States

Q. Will I be able to call other international countries?

A. Yes, you will be able to call other international destinations, but you will be charged at the applicable international rates.


Q. How do I subscribe to any of the special data bundles?

A. You will be able to subscribe to any of the special bundles via the following channels:

Q. What will I get after subscribing to the Special Data bundles?

A. You will receive 5GB or 15GB but depending on the bundle purchased.


Q. Will I be able to buy any of the data bundles multiple times?

A. Yes, you will be able to buy any of the special data bundles multiple times as long as you are on XtraSpecial plan.


Q. Will I be able to use the Special data offer for browsing all day?

A. Yes. You will be able to use XtraSpecial data bundles all-day


Q. Will I be able to roll over my data bundle?

A. You can only roll over unused data in your data main account if you renew the bundle before expiry or within the grace period after expiry.


Q. What is the validity of the XtraSpecial Data bundles?

A. The 5GB and 15GB data bundles are valid for 30 days from the date of activation.


Q. Will I buy the Special data offer while on other tariff plan?

A. You can buy any of the XtraSpecial data bundles via the channels on the table below. If you activate any of the bundles via SMS, you will NOT be migrated to the MTN XtraSpecial plan. If you buy any of these special bundles via USSD (408#), you will be AUTOMATICALLY migrated to XtraSpecial plan.

Q. If I am on other tariff plan, will I be migrated to XtraSpecial after sending ‘131’ or ‘110’ to ‘131’?

A. No, you will only get the 3GB monthly data bundle or 4.5GB monthly data bundle BUT will NOT be migrated to XtraSpecial plan. However, if you try to buy any of the XtraSpecial data bundles via *408#, you will get the Special data offer and will be migrated to XtraSpecial plan.


Q. Will I be able to migrate to other tariff plans after buying the XtraSpecial data offers and migrating to XtraSpecial plan?

A. Yes, you can choose to migrate to other tariff plans at any time.


Q. Will I still be able to use the XtraSpecial data offer after I migrate out of XtraSpecial tariff plan?

A. Yes, you will continue to use the XtraSpecial data bundle until it is expires/gets exhausted.


Q. Will I be automatically migrated out of XtraSpecial plan if I don’t renew the XtraSpecial Data offer?

A. No, once your XtraSpecial data offer expires your line will remain on XtraSpecial plan until you decide to migrate out.


Q. Will my XtraSpecial data offer renew if I have already migrated to another tariff plan?

A. No. If you have migrated to another tariff plan at the time of auto-renewal, the 5GB or 15GB bundle will not auto-renew.


Q. How do I check the data balance of these bundles?

A. To check the data bundle balance, simply dial *131*4#, *556# or text 2 to 131.

You can also log on to myMTN NG app or myMTN web to view the Bundle balances.


Q. What should I do to get the 10% airtime bonus on recharge?

A. You can get the 10% airtime Bonus on recharge when you recharge via the eligible recharge channels listed below:

Q. I noticed that when I tried to a buy data bundle, I got a prompt suggesting I buy an XtraSpecial bundle.

A. Yes. As an XtraSpecial customer, when buying a Data bundle you will get a prompt suggesting an XtraSpecial bundle instead of the Data bundle you are trying to buy.

Example: If you want to buy an Access bundle of 750MB for N500 valid for 14days, you will get a prompt on your phone, suggesting that you purchase the XtraSpecial N750 for 1.5GB valid for 14days.

Note: The XtraSpecial bundle that will be suggested to you will depend on the Access Data bundle you are trying to buy. See XtraSpecial table below for the full list of the XtraSpecial bundles that will be cross-sold at the point of Access Data bundle purchase.


Q. What happens when I select the XtraSpecial bundle the system suggested?

A. When you select the option to buy the XtraSpecial Data bundle instead of the Access Data bundle, the system will activate ONLY the XtraSpecial bundle on your line and the Access Data bundle will not be activated.


Q. What happens if I don’t want the suggested XtraSpecial bundle?

A. If you don’t want the XtraSpecial bundle suggested to you, simply select the Access bundle on the cross-selling menu and the system will activate ONLY the Access bundle on your line. Note: Only the bundle you select will be activated on your line i.e. if you select the suggested XtraSpecial bundle, the Access Data bundle will not be activated on your line but if you select the Access Data bundle, the suggested XtraSpecial bundle will not be activated on your line.


Q. On which channel of activation will I get the cross-sell menu?

A. You will get the XtraSpecial cross-sell menu when you buy Access Data bundle using myMTN NG app/web, USSD and SMS.


Q. What should I do to get the 10% airtime bonus on recharge?

A. You can get the 10% airtime Bonus on recharge when you recharge via the eligible recharge channels listed below:

A. No. 10% Airtime bonus on recharge can’t be shared/transferred to another line.


Q. Will I get 10% Airtime bonus on recharge when I receive or send airtime via Share n Sell?

A. No. You will not get the 10% Airtime bonus on recharge when you receive or send airtime via Share n Sell.


Q. What activities can I perform with the 10% Airtime bonus on recharge?

A. You will be able to make local calls, send SMS and browse any website or app with the 10% Airtime bonus on recharge.

A. Your 10% Airtime bonus on recharge will be charged first until it is exhausted and subsequent charges will be from your main account or any available voice bonus.


Q. How many times can I get the 10% Airtime bonus on recharge?

A. You will receive the 10% Airtime bonus on recharge for every recharge you make via the eligible channels.


Q. If I migrate to another tariff plan with my 10% Airtime bonus on recharge, will I still be able to use it?

A. Yes, you will still be able to use the 10% Airtime bonus on recharge when you migrate to another tariff plan as long as the bonus has not expired.
