What is MTN Share?
A. MTN Share (formerly Share ‘N’ Sell) is a service that allows you to transfer airtime(credit) from your MTN account to other MTN customers’ accounts.
How much will I pay for using MTN Share?
A. You will not be charged when you share airtime via MTN Share. Only the amount you transfer will be deducted from your account balance.
Who can use MTN Share service?
A. All MTN new and existing prepaid customers
Will I require a PIN to use the MTN Share service?
A. Yes, you will need a 4 digits pin, to use the MTN Share service.
How do I activate the PIN?
A. Before you can transfer airtime, you must change the default PIN which is 0000.
To Change your MTN Share PIN:
- Send an SMS with “DefaultPIN NewPIN NewPIN” to ‘321’. For example, send an SMS with ‘0000 1234 1234’ to ‘321’.
- Dialing *321*Default PIN*New PIN* New PIN# on your phone and then click on send/press ok. For example, dial *321*0000*1234*1234# and then ‘Send/OK’.
- You can also change your PIN on the myMTN app when you log in to the app, click the ‘Share’ button, click the ‘Create PIN’ button, answer the questions, then enter your ‘PIN’.
Note: Immediately you change your PIN using any of the options above, you will receive an SMS informing you that your PIN was changed successfully.
How can I use the MTN Share service?
A. You can use the MTN Share via the channels below:
- USSD: Dial *321#, select ‘Airtime share’ then select ‘Transfer Airtime’, enter the receiver’s phone number, the amount (not less than N50) and your PIN to complete the transfer.
- SMS: Send “Tranfer Receiver’sPhoneNumber Amount PIN” to “321”, then reply ‘Yes’ to the confirmation message to complete the transfer.
- myMTN app: Log in to the app, click the ‘Share’ button, click the ‘Airtime Share’ button, enter the MTN number you want to send the airtime, and select the amount, then click ‘Proceed’.
How can I transfer airtime on MTN Share?
A. You can transfer airtime via any of the channels below.
How to transfer airtime using *321#.
- Dial *321#, select ‘Airtime share’.
- Select ‘Transfer Airtime’.
- Enter the receiver’s phone number.
- Enter the amount (not less than N50).
- Enter your PIN to complete the transfer.
How to transfer airtime using *312#.
- Dial *312*Recipient’s Number*Amount*PIN#on your phone and then click on send/press OK.
Example:
Dial *312*08031234567*1500*1234# then send/OK, for the transfer of N1,500 to 08031234567. You will receive a message informing you that the transfer was successful.
How to transfer airtime using SMS
- Send “Transfer Receiver’sPhoneNumber Amount PIN” to “321”.
Example: You can send an SMS with ‘Transfer 08031234567 1500 1234’ to ‘321’.
Upon sending this message, you will receive an SMS asking you to confirm that you want to make the transfer by sending an SMS with ‘YES’ to 321.
Note: When you recharge from N500 and above on your line, you will get a menu with the Gift Airtime option. You will be able to share airtime once you select that option.
What is the maximum amount I can transfer at a time?
A. The maximum amount of airtime you can transfer at a time is N5,000.
Note: You can only transfer in Naira amounts and not in kobo, i.e. you can transfer N71 but not N71.99.
How many times can I transfer data in a day?
A. You can transfer multiple times daily. However, the cumulative amount you can transfer in a day is N50,000.
What is the least amount I can transfer?
A. You can transfer between NGN50.00.
Do I include the Naira sign (N) when I am transferring?
A. No, you do not. Just write the amount. i.e. If you want to transfer N1000, just write 1000.
What happens if as a Prepaid customer, I do not have sufficient airtime to transfer?
A. If your MTN prepaid account does not have enough airtime to cover the amount you have requested to transfer, the transaction will not be completed, and you will receive an error message.

Will I be able to request for airtime from a friend?
A. You can ‘request airtime from a friend’ when you dial *321*1# and select the option. You will be required to enter the number of your loved one, and the amount (not less than N50.00) you are requesting for, then, an SMS request will be sent to the number.
